Got your attention? Get ready for a tour de force performance from Julianne Moore, who proves exhausting even in the running time of a movie trailer. I would never have imagined a film with a connection to Bakelite products would ever look so enticingly screwed up as this one, regardless of Moore’s involvement.
It’s had some ropey reviews from the likes of Variety but I feel almost obliged to see anything starring this actress. She’s emblazoned on my mind thanks to the thoroughly fatiguing (and enthralling) way she flounced her way through Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia and the sheer beauty of Far From Heaven.
Screw the reviews. I’m definitely seeing this one — just as soon as I work out when it’s showing. The film is listed as a 2007 release and I found one page that suggested the UK release is on 28 May 2008, the same day as Sex and the City but that seems unlikely when it doesn’t appear on major sites such as Odeon or Vue.
